The men totaled 87 1/2 points in defeating Yale and Columbia, and the women placed second in the tri-meet hosted by Yale. The men's track and field team won nine individual events in this preparatory meet for the Heptagonal Championship that will take place in late February. Matt Colman '01 won the 800 meters with a time of 1:56.23 while Chris Lanese '04 finished first in the mile with a time of 4:17:01. "Coach Harwick wanted us to compete in this meet to get a feeling of what it's like to go head-to-head against other Ivy teams before Heps," Lanese said.
On Saturday, George W. Bush was inaugurated as the 43rd President of the United States. Bush's election to the White House represents the pinnacle of a career that began in the oil fields of West Texas, included a failed run for Congress in the late 1970s, and most impressively a stint as governor of Texas for the last six years. Oh yeah, Bush was also a part owner and managing partner in the Texas Rangers baseball franchise.

After handily beating the University of Vermont and the rest of the field last week by 30 points, Dartmouth won by nearly 80 points this weekend at the Colby College Carnival in Sugarloaf, Maine. It was business as usual for the Dartmouth women's hockey team on Wednesday as it soundly defeated 10th ranked Providence 5-1 on the road.
This past weekend's NFL Conference Championship games featuring the Baltimore Ravens and the New York Giants were incredible, simply incredible.
