Dartmouth teams notch victories

Swimming and Diving

Both the women's and men's swimming and diving teams hosted the University of Vermont yesterday. Both programs had been struggling and were in need of a victory.

The men's divers swept the top three places on both boards en route to a 114-95 victory. The win brought the Big Green's record to 3-6.

Michael Tanana '04 took first in the one-meter diving, with Scott Brown '02 and Daniel Olson '04 taking the next two spots respectively. The trio switched positions in the three-meter board event, with Brown taking top prize, followed by Tanana and Olson, garnering 32 points total in the two events.

Dartmouth pulled off victories in five other events in addition to the diving dominance.

The Big Green hosts Army on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

The women pounded the Catamounts 130-83, winning all but one event. It yielded the Big Green's first victory of the season.

Dartmouth swept three events, the one-meter diving, 200 freestyle and the 200 individual medley. The women host Army on Saturday at 5 p.m.

Squash

Stuck in dreaded Cambridge, the Dartmouth squash teams came back with victories in hand.

The men were thumped 9-0 by Harvard, but rallied to destroy the Engineers of MIT 9-0 and down the Tufts Jumbos 7-2. The 2-1 evening pulls the Big Green back to .500 at 6-6.

The women also suffered Crimson envy, falling to the hosts 9-0, but rallied against the Jumbos to pull out an 8-1 victory. Dartmouth stands at 7-4 after the evening split.

Brown and Bates come to town on Sunday. The women play first at 10 a.m., followed by the men at 12 p.m.
