Softball lands three recruits, but roster size will expand

Jennie Post Hoping to add depth to a young team for next season, the Big Green softball team has bolstered its bats and pitching staff by signing three early-decision recruits last month, welcoming Amy McLuskie, Audrey Kolodziej and Devin Lindsay to the roster for the spring 2008 season. "With 16 underclassmen, the face of our team is very young this season and I would highlight that as one of our strengths," coach Christine Vogt said.


Four senior classmates and a number of other team members finished their Dartmouth squash careers Sunday.

Men's hockey picks up a pair of conference victories

Tilman Dette / The Dartmouth Staff The Dartmouth men's hockey team continued to roll on its home ice when it downed conference opponents Rensellear Polytechnic Institute 5-2 on Friday evening and Union 3-2 on Saturday night at Thompson Arena. Not only did the victories increase the Big Green's home winning streak (10-9-3, 7-6-3 ECACHL) to five games, dating back to a 4-0 victory over Holy Cross on Jan.

Video gamers and couch potatoes are not necessarily the same people, and the two interest groups may further diverge if current trends in video game production continue. Back in 1987, Konami released "Track & Field" for the original Nintendo Entertainment System, a game in which winning and losing was directly tied to the users' athletic ability.

Ivy foes bounce men's basketball

Men's basketball was swept in its second Ivy League home weekend, as Cornell defeated the Big Green 74-61 on Friday and Columbia downed Dartmouth 61-55 on Saturday night. The losses left the Big Green (7-12, 2-4 Ivy) in sixth place in the conference standings.

Skiers dominate UVM carnival, take first place

The Dartmouth ski team is now three for three on the season. Continuing its sweep of the Eastern Carnival circuit, the Big Green captured its third consecutive victory of the year at the University of Vermont this weekend. For the third carnival in a row, Dartmouth took first, UVM was second and Middlebury College third.

Track teams tune up for Heptagonal meet

The Dartmouth men's and women's track teams competed in the Dartmouth Invitational, the last home meet of the season and one of the final tune-up meets before the Heptagonal championships, the Ivy League championships of track.

Men's tennis trounces Stony Brook, Marist

The Big Green men's tennis team continued its regular season on Saturday, Feb. 3 with a double header, soundly defeating Stony Brook and Marist at the Alexis Boss Tennis Center in Hanover. In the first match of the day, Dartmouth swept the Seawolves 7-0, losing only one set.

Women's basketball gets boosts from unusual sources

Asafu Suzuki / The Dartmouth Staff The Dartmouth women's basketball team split its Ivy League weekend series, defeating Brown 61-44, but falling to Yale in a 63-56 thriller that was decided in the final minutes. On Saturday, the Big Green traveled to New Haven to face a tough Yale opponent that was looking to tie a school record with a seven-game home winning streak.
