Figure skating eyes fifth straight national championship

Courtesy of Ben Bostick With four consecutive national titles and five undefeated seasons under its belt, Dartmouth's figure skating team will defend its title at the Intercollegiate National Championship in Ann Arbor, Mich., this weekend. Dartmouth qualified to represent the Eastern Region in the National Championship after winning the qualifying competition held at the University of Delaware on March 2.

Figure skaters take gold at Boston

Courtesy of Ben Bostick The Dartmouth figure skating team, the defending National Champion, started its competitive season off on the right skate at Boston University this weekend, besting 16 teams to emerge victorious after 17 hours of competition. The competition was the first of two contests that will determine which three Eastern teams will qualify for the Figure Skating National Championships, which will take place in Ann Arbor, Mich., in early April. Though Dartmouth took the ice with just 12 skaters, the Big Green took a decisive victory of 103.5 points.

Former defenseman Lovejoy '07 inks minor league contract

Courtesy of Dartmouth Athletic Department On Thursday, June 14, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced the signing of former Big Green men's ice hockey defenseman Ben Lovejoy '07 to an American Hockey League contract. Lovejoy explained how he ended up signing with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. "My agent talked to a lot of different teams and he gauged the level of interest around the league," Lovejoy said. He begins training immediately. "I fly to Pittsburgh tomorrow and attend a week-long conditioning camp, then I'm living in Boston for the summer," Lovejoy said on Sunday.

Ben True '08 sets his sights on the four-minute mile mark

Less than two months ago, Ben True '08 crossed the finish line fourth in the men's 20-kilometer classical technique race to help the Big Green win the NCAA Skiing Championships for the first time in 31 years. In addition to helping Dartmouth secure the Championship title, True also secured himself All-American honors for the second time in skiing.

Equestrian wins Ivy Championship

The Dartmouth equestrian team won the Ivy Championship on Saturday, April 21, with a commanding victory in the All-Ivy Championships held at Dartmouth's own Morton Farm. Saturday's victory was the first time the Big Green has won the Ivy Championship since 1997.

Softball squad strikes out in season opener at Buzz Classic

Jennie Post / The Dartmouth Staff Dartmouth softball kicked off its season by going 1-3 in Georgia Tech's 15th annual Buzz Classic softball tournament. The Big Green (1-3, 0-0 Ivy) was one of 25 teams to compete in the pooled play tournament, which took place in Woodstock, Ga., at the Twin Creek Softball Complex. Dartmouth's trip to Atlanta had a rocky start.
