Half marathon benefits CHaD

Superheroes came out flying on Sunday, or so it appeared as over 3,500 people, many in colorful costumes, participated the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hero half marathon and Ripcord 5K. As of press time, the hospital had raised more than $697,000.

Barbary Coast will perform tribute concert to Sun Ra

|

Audience members are primed for the trip of a lifetime, as Barbary Coast Jazz Ensemble will play a concert that delivers them to space, celebrating the influence of musician and philosopher Sun Ra on Saturday. Noted trombonist and composer Craig Harris, who once played with Sun Ra as a member of Arkestra, will join Barbary Coast on stage.

Football earns Homecoming win

With the sun peeking out from behind the clouds over Memorial Field nearly three hours into the game, Dartmouth held Holy Cross to a sack and three incomplete passes to seal a 24-21 victory in the Big Green’s Homecoming game.

DDS seeks to halt theft

|

Last week, late-night visitors to the Collis Café found the rear entrance to the venue roped off, its glass doors shut — new measures to prevent food theft. Employees catch around 60 students a day attempting to steal food across all Dartmouth Dining Services venues, according to director David Newlove.

Big Green football beats Yale 38-31

In what will go down as one of Dartmouth’s most satisfying wins in the 100-year history of the Yale Bowl, the Big Green (3-1, 2-0 Ivy) defeated Yale University 38-31 in a back-and-forth thriller in New Haven.

Men’s soccer wins 3-1

The men’s soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to seven games in the first leg of a four-game homestand with a dominating 3-1 win over Central Connecticut State University on Tuesday night.

Senior survey shows lowered satisfaction

|

The survey results, released in late September, found that roughly 90 percent of students indicated satisfaction with their Dartmouth experience, down from a recent peak of 95 percent in 2010. The College recorded a more severe dip when it asked members of the Class of 2014 if they would recommend the College to “a high school senior who resembled them.” Only 71 percent indicated they would do so, down about 10 percentage points from the Class of 2012.

Football comes from behind for season-opening victory

Saturday under the lights, for the first time since a snowy November night, the gridiron came alive in Hanover. In a back-and-forth game, Dartmouth defeated the visiting Central Connecticut State University Blue Devils 35-25, thanks in large part to a mid-game run of 28 points.

Following negotiations, KAF to stay

Students used to a daily fix of brie and apple sandwiches, handmade marshmallows and skim milk mochas won’t have to adjust their eating habits after all, as King Arthur Flour’s Baker-Berry Library cafe will remain open in 2015.
