Ever since I was a child, in response to practically any concern I have, my parents have always given consistent, simple advice: be yourself. Worried about fitting in at summer camp? Just be yourself. Scared about that job interview? Just be yourself. Nervous about making friends at Dartmouth? Just be yourself.

Despite its explicit charter mission to educate Native American youth, the College largely ignored this commitment for its first 200 years. Between 1769 and 1969, the College graduated just 19 Native students.

Chief
financial officer of the College Mike Wagner sent a campus-wide email
Friday afternoon stating that there had been a major data breach in the
consumer database at Equifax, the consumer credit reporting agency
that the College uses for business services. In his email, Wagner
included a statement from Equifax, which said that its Workforce
Solutions database had not been breached and, therefore, no data from
the College was affected.

Hello, Class of 2020. We’re sure you’re anxiously poring through your course selection book and tackling your dorm shopping checklist as you count down the days until your arrival in Hanover. Maybe you’re insanely excited or insanely nervous, or some combination of both. Introduction
(07/28/16 10:00pm)
Happy sophomore summer, Mirror readers. My hiatus from the Mirror is over, although I return alone, without my co-editor Hayley. With nobody to monitor my coffee consumption and comment on it in editor’s notes, my coffee habits have only gotten more excessive.

The family of Alana Donohue ’18 is setting up a scholarship fund through the College in her honor. Donohue died on June 23 at home in New York City from anaphylaxis at the age of 19.
(06/30/16 10:47pm)
For Alana Donohue ’18, life was about making those around her as happy as they could be. Friends and family said that Donohue strove to put a smile on everyone’s face, an effort that came from her kindness and lively spirit.

Few life transitions are as immense as the shift from high school to college. Suddenly, your parents — and the curfews, restrictions and rules (if you’re already 18 by the time you matriculate) that often accompany them — are gone. You’re living in a new room in a new place with thousands of new people. Your schedule is often much less regimented than it was in high school, and it’s okay if you sleep through class or go to bed at 5 a.m. In many ways, it’s like stepping into a new, unfamiliar world.

Happy week nine, Mirror readers! Hayley and Caroline can hardly believe that this is the last editor’s note they will pen together, as Caroline will be abroad in London in the fall. Where has the time gone?
(05/10/16 9:01pm)
Happy week seven, Mirror readers. We hope you’ve recovered from your weekends dressing up in pastels, eating pig and frolicking in the mud. Perhaps the mother who Caroline heard exclaim to her son, “Honey, no offense, but Dartmouth students are SO weird!” was right after all.
(05/03/16 9:01pm)
Happy week six, Mirror readers and happy May! It’s practically impossible to believe that 2016 is already one third over. Where has the time gone? More importantly, how has Caroline already given up on all 17 of her New Year’s resolutions?
(04/26/16 9:01pm)
Happy Wednesday, Mirror readers. Looking out at the falling snow as we pen this editor’s note, it’s hard to believe that we’re approaching the halfway point of the spring term. We can only hope for a snowless May, but at this point jinxing Mother Nature seems dangerous — next thing we know it’ll be snowing during Green Key. Dartmouth students would never get over such a travesty.

Happy April 20, Mirror readers. Just a reminder to be wary of any brownies you’re offered today, unless they’re free samples at KAF — in that case, fight tooth and nail to get one.
(04/12/16 9:01pm)
Hello, Mirror readers, and happy week three. Now that the weather has finally reached (slightly) above freezing temperatures it’s easier to believe that we’re already one fourth of the way into the spring term.
(04/05/16 9:21pm)
Happy Wednesday, Mirror readers. We hope you are handling the abrupt change in weather better than your Mirror editors are. “It will stop snowing eventually, right?” Hayley asks Caroline in a defeated voice, thinking longingly of sunny days in Hanover.
(03/28/16 10:30pm)
Happy spring term, Mirror readers! We hope you had wonderful and relaxing spring breaks, and that you didn’t miss us too much. If so, rest assured, we have an entire term ahead of us to satiate you with Mirror issues.
(03/04/16 12:15am)
Happy Friday, Mirror readers! We can’t believe it’s already the last Mirror of the term, or that it’s March or that the winter just passed us by without really being, well, a winter.
(02/26/16 12:29am)
What a beautiful place campus is during week eight, as downtrodden students trudge through the muddy Green amid pouring rain. With Winter Carnival a distant memory, the snow sculpture a melted puddle and no indication of the cozy, wintry wonderland this term promised to be, it seems like there isn’t much to be happy about. To quote Hayley’s favorite, somewhat ironic expression of Caroline’s: “What a time to be alive.”
(02/19/16 12:43am)
Hello, Mirror readers! We hope that you’ve recovered from the festivities of Winter Carnival and/or Valentine’s Day and are staying afloat at this busy time of term. At the very least we hope that, unlike Caroline, you did not wipe out on the ice as you were hurrying to class.
