Webb, Shrestha grab wins at Harvard Invite

Last weekend, the men's tennis team traveled to Harvard where they competed in the 2003 Harvard Winter Invitational. With Ivy League foes Harvard, Brown and Princeton sending some of their top players, the tournament was filled with tough competition from around the League. The Big Green was able to make some noise, as David Webb '05 defeated David Slater from Marist in the first round, 7-6, 6-4, before losing a hard-fought match to eighth-seeded Anil Shamasdin of Brown, 7-5, 6-2.

New line key to hockey victory

While four points would have been ideal this weekend, it is safe to say the Big Green men's hockey squad will settle for one impressive win over Rensselaer and one huge load lifted off their backs. The four-game losing streak was snapped in the grandest of fashions in the 7-3 victory, as the offense that had been sleeping for several games awoke with a start and exploded for seven goals. The confidence problem that had plagued the squad in the last few weeks was not visible last night.

Ivy rivals top women's swimming

In two rough competitions this weekend, Big Green women's swimming fell to Yale, the University of Pennsylvania and Princeton, with scores of 170-112, 165-117 and 172-132 respectively. The difficult weekend began with a morning meet on Saturday at Karl Michael Pool against both Yale and Penn.

Women's icers to face Huskies

Dartmouth dressed its most complete squad last weekend against third-ranked Minnesota. Led by freshman Cherie Piper and senior Correne Bredin, the Big Green convincingly upset the Gophers by a score of 6-3. This weekend, Dartmouth will skate another near-complete lineup, with the exceptions of senior captain Lydia Wheatley and sophomores Cheryle Muranko and Meagan Walton, all of whom suffered severe injuries during this season. Wheatley has not played since the second game of the season while Muranko suffered a season-ending injury on Nov.

Playing on the road against a team that has advanced to the NCAA Tournament the past two seasons, the Big Green men's basketball team had an inkling what was in store for them when they headed to Worcester, Mass.

Club hockey drops high-scorer

The Dartmouth Club Hockey Team lost 10-9 Sunday to the Berlin Jr. Kings at Thompson Arena. In a highly offensive game punctuated by many big hits, the team fell behind early on three quick goals.

Squash gets routed by defending natl. champs

The Dartmouth Squash teams suffered only their second losses of the season on Saturday as both teams were defeated 9-0 by the Trinity squash powerhouse. The Big Green women fell 9-0 to a very talented Trinity squad.

Juniors swim great as Big Green falls to Columbia

Despite great swims by juniors Thomas Sanford, Matt Sueoka and Ryan Goldhahn, the Dartmouth men's swimming and diving team fell to the Columbia Lions, 177-121, on Saturday. After helping Dartmouth's 500 medley relay to victory, Sanford won the 50 breaststroke (26.99), 200 breaststroke (2:08.42) and the 100 individual medley (53.97). Team captain Paul Schned '03 said of Sanford's performances, "He swam so fast, it was really totally sweet.
