Radcliffe gets best of women's crew team

The Dartmouth women's crew team fell to stiff competition at last Saturday's home races on the Connecticut River against Radcliffe and Syracuse.

In first varsity action, top-ranked Radcliffe claimed victory with a time of 6:11.1. Syracuse, ranked seventh, finished next in 6:15.8. Dartmouth, ranked 12th last week, placed third in a time of 6:26.3.

Despite the disappointing start to the morning, Big Green rowers took the runner-up spot in the second varsity eight with a time of 6:25.6. Radcliffe claimed top honors in 6:20.4, while Syracuse finished last in 6:31.8.

In the varsity fours, Dartmouth placed second in both the A and B races with times of 7:18.5 and 7:45.6, respectively.

As for Big Green's novice rowers, both novice eights took third place. The A race was taken by Radcliffe, while Syracuse claimed victory in the B race.

After a difficult weekend against strong competition, the Dartmouth rowers prepare for more action this Friday in Philadelphia as they take on University of Pennsylvania and Princeton.
