The Dartmouth women's crew team fell to stiff competition at last Saturday's home races on the Connecticut River against Radcliffe and Syracuse.
In first varsity action, top-ranked Radcliffe claimed victory with a time of 6:11.1. Syracuse, ranked seventh, finished next in 6:15.8. Dartmouth, ranked 12th last week, placed third in a time of 6:26.3.
Despite the disappointing start to the morning, Big Green rowers took the runner-up spot in the second varsity eight with a time of 6:25.6. Radcliffe claimed top honors in 6:20.4, while Syracuse finished last in 6:31.8.
In the varsity fours, Dartmouth placed second in both the A and B races with times of 7:18.5 and 7:45.6, respectively.
As for Big Green's novice rowers, both novice eights took third place. The A race was taken by Radcliffe, while Syracuse claimed victory in the B race.
After a difficult weekend against strong competition, the Dartmouth rowers prepare for more action this Friday in Philadelphia as they take on University of Pennsylvania and Princeton.
