Last Saturday, the Dartmouth Equestrian team rode well at the New England Classic held at Morton Farm.
As a post-season show, the New England Classic does not count in terms of points or advancing to Nationals, but it is still one of the most competitive shows of the year.
Fourteen team brought their top eight riders to compete. Instead of competing against six to eight other riders as in regular season shows, Dartmouth competitors rode in classes of 14.
"I was generally satisfied with my rides, and I think everyone who competed looked fantastic," Hannah Haynie '03, who placed sixth in walk/trot/canter, said.
Captain Lindsay Clayton '04 took sixth in open and Jill Carr '03 also took home a green (sixth place) ribbon in novice flat.
Yibei Shen '05 rode well, placing fifth in walk/trot.
Besides competing in the show, the Dartmouth team worked hard to run its last home show at Morton farm for the season.
Haynie added: "I think that both those who rode and those who didn't had a lot of fun, despite the fact that we all had to work hard all day."
The team is looking forward to the final show of the year, the All-Ivies, which will be held at Cornell this Sunday.
"We've had a lot of home shows this year, and it will be nice not to have all of the preparatory work to do," Haynie said. "It will be a good show to finish out the season with, since the whole team will be there. I'm expecting it to be a lot of fun."
