Women's basketball gets boosts from unusual sources

Asafu Suzuki / The Dartmouth Staff The Dartmouth women's basketball team split its Ivy League weekend series, defeating Brown 61-44, but falling to Yale in a 63-56 thriller that was decided in the final minutes. On Saturday, the Big Green traveled to New Haven to face a tough Yale opponent that was looking to tie a school record with a seven-game home winning streak.

Skiing stays hot at UNH Carnival

Not even the freezing cold could stop the Dartmouth ski team's hot streak this season. The Big Green remained undefeated on the season by overwhelming the competition at the University of New Hampshire Winter Carnival, despite frigid temperatures that forced the nordic events to be delayed. The Big Green dominated the meet, winning six out of the eight events and scoring 784 points, amassing an 83-point margin of victory.

Men's basketball splits weekend

The Dartmouth men's basketball team split two games of a home stand this weekend. After beating Brown 56-52 on Friday night, the Big Green dropped Saturday night's contest to Yale by a score of 71-64. On Friday night, Dartmouth (7-10, 2-2 Ivy) took its biggest lead over the Bears (6-12, 1-2 Ivy) on a three-point play by Alex Barnett '09, which made the score 46-37 with 10 minutes to play.

Squash squad splits Williams matches; women win, men fall

The Dartmouth squash teams split the night Wednesday. The women downed Williams College 6-3 while the men dropped five matches to the Ephs. The Dartmouth women (6-3, 0-2 Ivy) overpowered the Ephs (6-5 NESCAC). Heather Lisle '07 made short work of sophomore Stephanie Barnett, dominating the match and winning in three games.

Unusually warm weather has aided the construction of Floren Varsity House, which should be open by November.

Varsity House nears completion

Andrew Palmer / The Dartmouth At the tail end of Dartmouth's recent construction boom, the three-story, 41,300 square-foot Floren Varsity House has quietly risen out of the ground over the past year. Though a much smaller-scale project than other recently constructed buildings like the McLaughlin Cluster and Kemeny Hall, Floren is an ambitious replacement to the eighty year-old, 17,200-square-foot Davis Varsity House.

Big Green slips on track, dominates field events

While the women's indoor track squad remained undefeated on the season, the men's team hit a bump in the road this past weekend at a tri-meet against Ivy League rivals Yale and Columbia. The men's and women's teams had similar days, as both squads performed well in the field events but struggled on the track.
