Dartmouth downed the University of New Hampshire 19-9 as co-captain Whitney Douthett '07 tallied seven goals, leading the Big Green onslaught. Dartmouth (2-0, 0-0 Ivy) managed to avoid a letdown after opening the season with a thrilling win over Syracuse. "On attack, we did a better job of being threatening with the ball," head coach Amy Patton said. Particularly threatening with the ball was Douthett, whose seven goals is the highest total on the team since 2002.
What exactly is the Big Green? For some current Dartmouth athletes who carry the name with them wherever they play, the college's nickname is wrapped up in mystery. Tanner Glass '07, captain of the men's hockey team, had little knowledge about the College and the Big Green when he was recruited out of the small town of Craven, Saskatchewan. "The only thing I knew about the Big Green was from the Disney soccer movie," Glass said, referring to the 1995 PG-feature "The Big Green." "I didn't even know what the Big Green was," Glass added.

The Big Green (1-3, 0-0 Ivy) was one of 25 teams to compete in the pooled play tournament, which took place in Woodstock, Ga., at the Twin Creek Softball Complex. Dartmouth's trip to Atlanta had a rocky start.
Dartmouth men's basketball team dropped its final two games of the season this weekend. On Friday night, the Big Green's second-half comeback against host Columbia fell short, as the Lions proved victorious, 69-67.

On a blisteringly cold day with snow that forced the game to be delayed twice, Big Green baseball's offense was just as cold as the weather.
