Toe to Toe: Schmidley

In today's column, Ryan and I will argue over which NFL team is the cream of the crop. If either of us knew what we're talking about earlier in the term, we should have been taken back to our columns in which we took a stab at predicting this year's Super Bowl-winner. My pick, the Cowboys, have been riddled by injury after injury to a number of key players and are limping past the halfway mark in the 2008 season.

Toe to Toe: Karr

Several weeks ago, when Schmidley and I were prematurely predicting who would win the Super Bowl, I wrote, "[The Giants] look even better than they were last year, minus the downgraded defensive line, and Eli Manning has come into his own." Weeks later, are there any doubters still out there?

Underclassmen step up to give men's soccer late-season win

The Dartmouth men's soccer team put on a high-scoring show with the help of its freshmen on Saturday night, as the Big Green beat Cornell, 5-2, in Ithaca, N.Y. Cornell's Matt Bouraee had a big night with two goals, but Dartmouth rookie Lucky Mkosana '12 did him one better, netting a hat trick as the Big Green pulled away for an important win. After improving to 10-5-1 (4-1-1 Ivy), Dartmouth kept itself in the race for a piece of the Ivy League title and a likely at-large NCAA tournament bid.

Varsity Squared: Two-sport athletes at Dartmouth

The life of a varsity athlete at Dartmouth presents both athletic and academic challenges. It means hours of practice every day and requires the ability to manage whatever time one has have left in order to keep up with a strenuous school schedule. Now, imagine multiplying it all by two. With athletic training and practice almost year-round, two-sport athletes must be dedicated to spending much of their time in Hanover.

After two tough losses on the road last week, including a close four-set defeat at Princeton, Dartmouth looked to rebound at home with renewed energy. Women's soccer grinds out overtime tie with No. 25 Harvard

Dartmouth women's soccer played 110 hard-fought minutes against No. 25 Harvard on Saturday afternoon but was unable to pull away with the lead as the Big Green earned a 1-1 draw on the team's Senior Day. Harvard (9-3-4, 4-1-1 Ivy) currently stands tied for first place in the Ivy League along with Princeton and Columbia; each share a 4-1-1 conference record. The Big Green (7-6-2, 1-4-1 Ivy) is stuck in seventh place, ahead of upcoming opponent Cornell University. Not coming up with a win, however, did not taint the outcome of the game for the Big Green. "It was a big improvement from last week," senior co-captain Becky Poskin said.
