The Big Green women's swimming and diving team defeated Vermont 168-132 in Hanover this weekend.

It was Dartmouth's (2-3, 1-2 Ivy)second win of the season and the team's first meet since returning from a team training trip in Hawaii over winter break.

Heather Jankins '09 had a great performance for the Big Green, winning the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:07.16 and the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:26.91. Jankins was also part of the winning Dartmouth 200-yard medley relay, which finished with a time of 1:50.43. Other members of the winning relay were Galen Barry '12, Kelsey Pinson '12 and Elizabeth Kamai '12.

Jankins also finished second in the 50-yard freestyle race in 25.04. Her time was .02 seconds off of the winning time of UVM's Colleen Clark.

"The team stepped up and did a great job against UVM," Jankins said. "UVM actually won the same number of races as us, so coming out on top was really a tribute to our depth. For the rest of the season, our team goals are to win our remaining non-conference meets and to keep doing well."

Other top finishers for the Big Green included Virginia Selden '11, Pinson, Barry and Caitlin Keenan '12. Selden won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:09.17, Pinson took the 100-yard butterfly in 59.15 and Barry finished first in the 400-meter individual medley in 4:43.97. Keenan was just behind Barry with a time of 5:52.56.

Maddie Steiner '11 placed second in three races, including the 200-yard freestyle race with a time of 1:54.65, the 100-yard freestyle in 53.99 and the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:27.87.

Three other Big Green swimmers racked up second place finishes, Barry in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:00.93, Keenan in the 100-yard breastroke in 1:08.75 and Anna Sonstegard '11 in the 1000-yard freestyle in 10:41.28.

Erica Serpico '12 led the Big Green women on the diving boards, continuing her winning streak by finishing first in both the one and three meter diving events. Kat Brady '10 and Bridget Duffey '11 placed second and third behind Serpico.

The Big Green women will be back in the pool this Saturday, when they will host the University of Pennsylvania and Yale beginning at 10 a.m.
