Teresa Lattanzio / The Dartmouth Staff Want to download the ring tone from 24 or the famous "Leave the gun, take the cannoli" line from The Godfather?
Like most of you, the idea of the Dartmoose terrifies me. I was never much of a Keggy fan, but at least multiple words were not combined into one.
On Sept. 19, 2006, James Sherley, a 49-year-old black associate professor of biological engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, won a $2.5 million grant from the National Institute of Health for his work with adult stem cells.
James Holley, a 16-year-old resident of Norwich, Vt., was reported missing to the Norwich Police Department at 8 a.m.
Chris Takevichi / The Dartmouth Staff For a while, it seemed as though the Dartmouth baseball team would never get its offense going against the University of Cincinnati.
For most Dartmouth students, the hours spent memorizing vocabulary words, analogies and simple math equations in preparation for the SAT is a thing of the past.
Tiffany Ho / The Dartmouth Staff Former beef cattle farmer and mechanic Harold Brown decided to become a vegetarian after learning the word from a bumper sticker on the back of a car that he repaired.
Many arguments can be made about the nature of the relationship between higher education and athletics.
Greg Dinges '89 was appointed vice president of Nike's Corporate Development and the Chief Financial Officer of the company's Affiliate Brands Group on Monday.
Editor's note: This is the second article in a two-part series about expanding music-related web services. The concept of Shoutmouth.com was born when Phil Frost '04 and Pete Kennedy, who graduated from Harvard in 2003, found that there was no music news site on the Internet that spanned every music genre. "We found the demand for music-related information to be huge on the Internet," Kennedy said.
Ryan Yuk/The Dartmouth Staff / The Dartmouth Staff Syam Palakurthy '09 had a cold walk back to New Hampshire Hall when his black wool coat was taken from Chi Gamma Epsilon fraternity last December.
To the Editor: As a woman of Dartmouth, I must call Peter Gray '07 to task for his recent column ("Girls, Pong and Equality," Mar.
Jennie Post / The Dartmouth Staff Dartmouth softball kicked off its season by going 1-3 in Georgia Tech's 15th annual Buzz Classic softball tournament. The Big Green (1-3, 0-0 Ivy) was one of 25 teams to compete in the pooled play tournament, which took place in Woodstock, Ga., at the Twin Creek Softball Complex. Dartmouth's trip to Atlanta had a rocky start.
What exactly is the Big Green? For some current Dartmouth athletes who carry the name with them wherever they play, the college's nickname is wrapped up in mystery. Tanner Glass '07, captain of the men's hockey team, had little knowledge about the College and the Big Green when he was recruited out of the small town of Craven, Saskatchewan. "The only thing I knew about the Big Green was from the Disney soccer movie," Glass said, referring to the 1995 PG-feature "The Big Green." "I didn't even know what the Big Green was," Glass added.
Five members of the College Republicans traveled to Washington, D.C., this weekend to rub elbows with some of the most prominent Republicans at the Conservative Political Action Conference, a three-day event sponsored by the American Conservative Union, one of the largest conservative lobbying groups in the country. One speaker at the event, controversial pundit Ann Coulter, made national headlines at the conference for referring to Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards as a "faggot" in her speech, while former Massachusetts Gov.
"Life is good in Soweto, because we stay in love and peace. So let's dance with happiness." So goes "Masigiye'bo," or "Let's Dance," a Zulu song from the Soweto Gospel Choir's second album.
Editor's note: This is the first article in a two-part series about expanding music-related web services. Like any girl who grew up during the heyday of the boy band, I have a collection of old CDs that I wouldn't mind parting with -- groups like O-Town, Soul Decision, Dream, Lyte Funky Ones (LFO's full name, go figure) and the Spice Girls just aren't my idea of good music anymore.
Dartmouth downed the University of New Hampshire 19-9 as co-captain Whitney Douthett '07 tallied seven goals, leading the Big Green onslaught. Dartmouth (2-0, 0-0 Ivy) managed to avoid a letdown after opening the season with a thrilling win over Syracuse. "On attack, we did a better job of being threatening with the ball," head coach Amy Patton said. Particularly threatening with the ball was Douthett, whose seven goals is the highest total on the team since 2002.
