Based on the 1974 British spy novel, "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" examines the world of espionage during the 1970s, when Cold War tensions are running high. George Smiley, played by Gary Oldman a former top official at Britain's Secret Intelligence Service, nicknamed the "Circus" is forced out of retirement to uncover the double agent within the top ranks of the Service. The film's title is representative of the five senior intelligence officers under suspicion. During his assignment to uncover a Soviet spy within MI6, Smiley begins to realize that things may not be as they seem.

If you are a Depp fan, then you will appreciate the "Pirates" saga's equation of combining rum, Depp in a fancy hat on an island and interaction with a crazy voodoo lady that is also featured in the "The Rum Diary." Yet the narrative meanders like a stumbling drunk, switching from pursuit of the sexy girl to revenge on the bad guy. It is Kemp's unlikely roommates, the actual stumbling drunk Moburg (Ribisi) and grubby photographer Sala, that make the film tolerable. Kate Sullivan

Set in the 1960s and 90s, "The Debt" follows three Israeli special agents as they navigate their country's Holocaust-inflicted psychological wounds. The mission forces them to face their traumatic pasts, and entangles them in a web of lies thirty years in the making. Director John Madden delivers an intense study of how much the truth is worth, and at what point lies become untenable. Despite their best efforts, the characters cannot hide their pasts, and any debts they hold to society for cruelty gone unpunished or a deed left undone must be paid. Rachel Carter
