Now playing IN HANOVER: Jane Eyre

Directed by: FukunagaWritten by: Moira Buffini, based on the novel by BrontWith: Wasikowska and Michael Fassbender121 minutesRated PG-13

"Jane Eyre" capitalized on a superb cast to create its Victorian essence. The pacing and length of the movie were just enough for the film to portray this classic Bildungsroman, including enough detail to leave both the viewers who happened to read the novel and those who had not intrigued and satisfied.Dana Venerable

This film adaptation of "Jane Eyre" evokes a melodramatic atmosphere right from the first scene, in which a near-death Eyre struggles across a windswept plain. The film is most engaging in its portrayal of the tension between Eyre's traditional morals and her deep passion for life. Rachel Carter

With stunning cinematography and a superb cast, "Jane Eyre" remains true to the spirit of Bronte's masterpiece while managing to captivate with beautifully wrought visuals and lines of sparkling wit. Fukunaga's meticulous direction and passionate performances by Wasikowska and Fassbender create a film that will frighten you at times, make you laugh at others and altogether take your breath away.Trevelyan Wing
