Now playing IN HANOVER: Thor

Directed by: Kenneth BranaghWith: Hemsworth, Portman, Hopkins, Stellan Skarsgard, Kat Dennings114 minRated PG-13

A little bit too snarky and cheesy for its own good, "Thor" is no "The Dark Knight" or "Iron Man," but is still better than your average superhero movie. Though I would rather have seen the movie in 2D, the 3D effects in Thor are spectacular at just the right moments. Thor is a satisfactory beginning to a highly touted summer of blockbusters that will include such comic book legends as Captain America, the X-Men and the Green Lantern. Alec Brodsky

I don't read comic books, which sometimes makes me feel like I miss out a little bit on the movies made about them. "Thor" is not one of these films. While it didn't lead me to profound conclusions about life, "Thor" was perfectly entertaining and the title character was well-developed and complex enough to have feelings for. The Norse mythology of the story was well employed in the movie, and it kept me on the edge of my seat despite my doubts about action films. Sophia Archibald
