Bruins fans, the wait is finally over. We can all move on with our lives now. Byron Dafoe is signed. After several months of deadlock over his contract, Dafoe has reached an agreement with Bruins general manager/president Harry Sinden.
For Janna Merryfield '00, her talent in volleyball came as somewhat of a surprise. "Somebody's dad told me they thought I'd be good," she said, and great success on the court followed. Growing up outside of Seattle, Wash., Merryfield played soccer and basketball during her youth.
Twenty-nine teams, one dream. The marathon journey that is the NBA regular season kicked off last night with 13 games on tap. The first complete NBA season in the post-Jordan era since1994 will include several new rules changes imposed and ratified by the league's Board of Governors this past summer. The match lowers Dartmouth's record to 9-12 while the Wildcats' record improves to 18-8, as they continued a ten-match win streak. The Big Green showed improvement from their last meeting with New Hampshire, as they took the third game 15-10.

Every Homecoming, in addition to facing their opponents, Dartmouth's fall athletic teams have to compete for attention against Big Green football, which traditionally attracts the greatest number of spectators and the most fanfare. This weekend, in addition to football, Big Green volleyball, rugby, field hockey, women's and men's soccer will all have home games. In recent years, an effort has been made to decrease the number of teams competing at the same time as football, so more people can attend more games. "Within the league there was an attitude to move soccer and field hockey so that they were not competing with football," women's varsity soccer coach Kelly B.
