One-on-One: Julie Campbell '13

Last Friday, I saw a group of students whacking around a tennis ball on the golf course in their version of "campus golf." Inspired, I sat down with golfer Julie Campbell '13 to find out more about the women's golf team.

Despite the Dartmouth softball team's disappointing end to its season, third-baseman and catcher Molly Khalil '12 excelled as an offensive force, hitting six home runs and 27 RBIs and achieving a .294 batting average this year. Khalil said she began working on her skills at an early age, out-hitting her older brother in whiffle ball and playing t-ball at the age of four. "My family never forced me to play softball," Khalil said.

Hollisto's World

Sports dictate my emotions. When my team is up, I'm riding the highest of highs. After my team loses a big game, I'm more depressed than Eeyore from "Winnie the Pooh." Because of that emotional dependence, I began this weekend really, really sad.

Women's lacrosse clinches historic victories

|

To call this weekend a success for the Dartmouth women's lacrosse team would be an understatement not only did the team win a share of the Ivy League title with a 14-7 victory over Harvard University on Friday, but it dethroned the number-one seeded University of Maryland in an exhilarating 9-8 overtime win at home on Sunday. It was an emotional and adrenaline-packed weekend at Scully-Fahey Field, and with over 1,000 fans at each game, the team felt the support of the school and the community during the surreal wins. "It's honestly just crazy," co-captain Greta Meyer '11 said. The team felt confident and excited going into the game against Harvard, realizing exactly what was on the line, players said.

Softball loses division in final series

|

Four games behind the top team in the Ivy League North Division and with four games to play, the Dartmouth softball team competed in a pair of doubleheaders this weekend against division-leading Harvard University with the title on the line. The Big Green's slim hopes of forcing a tie in the standings were quickly shattered, however, as Harvard (34-14, 18-2 Ivy) took the first game of Saturday's doubleheader in Hanover, winning 8-1 to lock up the North Division crown.

One-on-One

This week I decided to throw a little spin on the traditional one-on-one formula. Dartmouth always brags about the strength of its community, so I wanted to portray some of the school's legendary camaraderie.
