Media poll predicts sixth-place finish for Big Green

Maggie Rowland / The Dartmouth Staff After a second-place finish last season, the Dartmouth football team is predicted to end this year sixth in the Ivy League, according to the 2012 football preseason media poll conducted on Tuesday. Harvard University, the defending Ivy League champion, is predicted to once again take first place in the league this year.

Men's golf wins three Division I awards

Courtesy of Dartmouth Sports After ending their 2011-2012 season with a second place finish at the Ivy League Championship, the Dartmouth men's golf team continues to receive acclaim for their efforts. The Big Green swept three of the four major honors bestowed as part of the 2012 New England Division I Golf Awards, announced on Friday. Big Green head coach Richard Parker took the title of Coach of the Year, while Dartmouth golfer Peter Williamson '12 was recognized as Player of the Year in the region. The Big Green also earned the distinction of Team of the Year, an award bestowed by head golf coaches from across the six states. Parker attributes most of his success as a coach to the players on his team. "I received the Coach of the Year because we had a ton of talent and they were very coachable," he said.

Men's crew to compete in Henley Royal Regatta

Richard Yu / The Dartmouth Staff Coming off a second place finish at the 2012 IRA National Championship, the Dartmouth lightweight crew team's varsity eight has made the voyage across the Atlantic to compete in the Henley Royal Regatta on the Thames River in England this week. The men's crew team will be one of 68 teams competing in the Temple Challenge Cup.
