In a recent op-ed in the Wall Street Journal, Swarthmore College junior Danielle Charette described the illiberal atmosphere that has overtaken Swarthmore, allowing for a group of students to take over a meeting of their board and monopolize the supposed "dialogue" to further their own goals.

Duthu to direct provost search

Dennis Ng / The Dartmouth Senior Staff Bruce Duthu, chair of the Native American studies program, will lead the advisory committee tasked with finding Dartmouth's next provost, President-elect Phil Hanlon said in an email to campus Thursday afternoon. Until the search is complete, interim provost Martin Wybourne will continue in the position. "I'm looking forward to working with Martin, whose deep understanding of Dartmouth's academic and research enterprise will continue to serve us well," Hanlon said in the email. Faculty members on the committee are government department chair John Carey, engineering professor Tillman Gerngross, Tuck School of Business professor Robert Hansen, Geisel School of Medicine professor Yolanda Sanchez, English professor Barbara Will and mathematics and computer science professor Peter Winkler. Winkler said Wybourne contacted him about serving on the committee about a week and half ago.

Concerts, student performances planned for Green Key

Zonia Moore / The Dartmouth Staff With a musical lineup that includes ASAP Rocky, Shaggy, Bauuer, Adventure Club, DJ Viceroy and Afroman, and a weather report calling for three days of sunshine, Green Key 2013 is sure to be a weekend filled with excitment. Despite Major Lazer's recent canellation, students say they are excited for to see his replacement, Shaggy. Emily Kong '16 said that she was excited for the change of pace that Shaggy might bring. "It's cool that it's a different genre," she said.

Green Key Society has new role, plans events for alumni

The Green Key Society plans events during the College's major weekends to promote campus unity. Founded in 1921 to provide the junior class with campus leadership roles and service opportunities, the society is trying to revitalize its role in campus life. This year, the Undergraduate Finance Committee voted to allow the society to coordinate programming with UFC-funded organizations, allowing the group to streamline the calendar of Green Key events next year, society co-president Rohail Premjee '14 said.
