In Hartford, a new home provides refuge

Every day after an exhausting shift, a woman enters the pale-blue residence at 1673 Maple Street in Hartford, about a 10 minute drive from Hanover. She sprawls out on a large blue sofa in front of the television set and flips the channel to her favorite crime shows on the Investigation Discovery (ID) channel, a routine so habitual that fellow residents have taken to calling her the “IDiva.”

Admissions to visit city alumni clubs

Admissions officers will attend more admitted student receptions in metropolitan areas this spring as well as work to standardize the resources and materials given to smaller Dartmouth clubs for their events, dean of admissions and financial aid Maria Laskaris said.

Students opt for smaller meal plans after fall term

Just 12.1 percent of undergraduates purchased the SmartChoice20 plan this term, compared to the 32.5 percent who purchased it in fall 2013. For the past three years, a consistent portion of students who purchased the SmartChoice20 meal plan in the fall has opted for smaller and cheaper meal plans in the winter.

Spectra, a new campus organization, seeks to enhance community among LGBTQ students by holding social events throughout the term. Andrew McKee ’15 and Jacqueline Panichello ’16 founded the group in the fall after hearing rumors that Gender Sexuality XYZ, was disbanding.

Tucker hires new Muslim and multi-faith advisor

As the new Muslim and multi-faith advisor of the Tucker Foundation, Sharif Rosen will serve as a resource for students grappling with faith-based issues. Rosen, who joined the Tucker Foundation in December, provides support for the Tucker Foundation’s various multi-faith programs, including Tuesday evening multi-faith conversations and the Inter-Faith Living and Learning Community located on first floor of Rauner Hall.
