The Dartmouth ski team finished fifth out of 21 colleges competing at the NCAA championships earlier this month at the University of New Hampshire.
After a successful season of Carnival racing, the Dartmouth ski team is on its way to the NCAA competition in Mt. Washington Valley. The event, hosted by the University of New Hampshire, will take place from March 8-11.
The Dartmouth Ski Team finished its regular season this weekend at the Middlebury College Carnival, taking third place overall, behind the University of Vermont and Middlebury.
Last week's Carnival at Dartmouth was a tremendous success, but there were, of course, a few things the Dartmouth ski team would rather not remember. It was heartbreaking for the men's Alpine team to lose to the University of Vermont in the Slalom race after beating the rivals the day before in the Giant Slalom. It was doubly painful when the Nordic men's team lost its Freestyle relay race for the first time this season.
Friday night was perhaps a sleepless one for the Dartmouth Ski Team. The racers believed that for the first time in 11 years, they had a chance to win their own Carnival. Whether it was nerves, lack of sleep or just rotten luck, the team did not fulfill its dreams this weekend.
Winter Carnival at Dartmouth is one of the most exciting weekends of the year. It attracts visitors from all over the country and for 85 years has been a bright point in what is usually a cold and bleak winter.
Although Saturday's heavy snowfall made the Dartmouth Ski Team happy, the results from the University of Vermont Carnival also gave the coaches and the skiers a great deal of elation.
