The men's lightweight crew team had a busy and mixed weekend. The second boat and freshmen boat shone, each putting together an undefeated weekend. The rowers pulled double duty this weekend, with races on Saturday and Sunday.
The success story behind Dartmouth's men's volleyball team is an endearing one. After the demotion from varsity status to club status three years ago, the future of the program looked bleak at best. Yet this team found a way to carry on through two tough seasons without funding or coaching to persevere until this season, when talent, experience, and heart combined in a magical formula to make men's volleyball team one of the college's most successful programs in the '95-'96 season. Last weekend, the team saw the fruition of its three-year uphill struggle.
Dartmouth's lightweight men's crew team traveled to Boston this past weekend to compete in the Biglin Bowl against three other New England teams in a four-way regatta. The regatta, which looked to be a good measuring stick of Dartmouth's position in the region, was a great success.
After struggling through the first match of the Ivy League tournament last weekend, the men's volleyball club team recovered to take third place overall behind Princeton and Penn. "It was definitely a good finish for us," Captain Jeremy Longinotti '96 said.

Following last week's huge victory against Harvard and follow-up 3-1 dismantling of Boston College, the men's volleyball team did not let up going into weekend competition, as the Big Green captured two more wins to improve their record to 15-1. On Saturday the Big Green played two matches against the University of Maine and the University of Vermont easily winning both 3-0. "Neither match was very intense," co-Captain Jeremy Longinotti '96 said.
Last night against Harvard, the men's volleyball team sprang back after losing the first game, winning three straight games and completing a season sweep of the rival Crimson. At first, the Big Green looked as if they were unready to play, just as they were Saturday against Plymouth State.
Tonight at 7:00 p.m. in Leede Arena the Dartmouth's Men's Volleyball team will face Harvard in what looks to be a grueling rematch of these two Ivy League powers. When they first met this season in Cambridge, Dartmouth was able to come out quickly and surprise the Crimson with consistent passing and evenly spread attacks.
