Before blizzard season comes, sailors catch the last wind

Though students may think Dartmouth is the coldest college in the East, the Big Green sailors had to shovel snow out of their boats before racing this Saturday at the 33rd Atlantic Coast Dinghy Championship, hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In college sailing, the ACCs are usually viewed as a strong indicator for performance through the spring season and nationals.

"I was thrilled with the team's performance at our last show of the Fall term," said Coach Sally Batton.

UVM suffers 27th straight loss to short-handed Dartmouth

With only 12 dressed skaters, the Dartmouth women's hockey team extended its ridiculous winning streak against University of Vermont, beating the Catamounts twice over the weekend for the 27th consecutive victory dating back to 1981. The Big Green (5-0, 4-0 ECACHL) were without juniors Gillian Apps, Tiffany Hagge and Katie Weatherston for the weekend because of national team commitments.

Ladies get strong start in the pool

The Big Green women's swimming and diving team kicked off the 2004-2005 season with a hard fought effort with a tough tri-meet, losing to Harvard 190-110 and narrowly to Cornell 154-146. Dartmouth opened with an impressive showing by Melissa Kern '07, who placed second in the 1,000-yard freestyle, followed by a third-place finish against Cornell by Nicole Zarba '06.

Volleyball skids down to home stretch to end season

To the chagrin of the Dartmouth volleyball team's four seniors, the squad saw an often frustrating season come to an appropriate conclusion this weekend with two painful losses at Leede Arena. On Friday night, the team (6-18, 3-11) lost the last three games against the Penn Quakers after a comfortable first game win.
