No longer an Ivy force, Big Green suffers defeat

Despite strong play from several less experienced players including Faziah Steen '13, who scored a career high in points on Saturday, and Janelle Ross '14, who recorded her first double-double on Friday the Dartmouth women's basketball team could not match Cornell University and Columbia University, and lost to both over the weekend. The team began the first of six weekends against back-to-back Ivy League opponents, traveling to Cornell (5-13, 2-2 Ivy) on Friday and to Columbia (3-15, 2-2 Ivy) on Saturday.

Track looks to extend early success

Doug Gonzalez / The Dartmouth Senior Staff Hoping to continue their early season success, the Dartmouth men's and women's track and field teams will compete in the Terrier Classic this weekend at Boston University. Racers will compete over the span of two days, with the women's events taking place on Friday and the men's events on Saturday. Dartmouth will race against approximately 50 other collegiate teams, including Yale University, Boston College, the University of Connecticut and Providence College. The event will serve as an unusual test for the Big Green, who will compete against several top programs and face different track conditions at Boston University's facilities. The Boston University track is "banked," or angled in much the same way that a stock car track would be, which, though unusual in collegiate track, is a condition that most runners enjoy. Women's tri-captain Alex Tanner '11 said the track is "one of the best tracks in the country," adding that "thousands" of runners have registered for the event.
