A Bit of Full Fare Wisdom

Iwas sitting alone enjoying (though enjoy is not the most appropriate word when dealing with college dining) a meal at Full Fare early in the dinner cycle.

A New Sorority is Not the Solution

|

This week five senior women, all past presidents of their respective sororities, called for "Sex Equity in the Greek System." As they elaborated their point at a forum Tuesday night it became clear that these women want the administration to make the formation of a new sorority a priority. Yet one obvious question needs to be answered: does sex equity in the Greek system translate into sex equity on the campus in general?

Create a New Sorority

|

The College should commit itself to establishing gender equity in its social system and creating a new sorority would be a good start. Dartmouth's social system, in particular the Greek system, currently offers more opportunities to men than women, while membership in sororities is bursting at the seams.

Article stereotyped Hanover High students inaccurately

|

To the Editor: In response to The Dartmouth's article, "Hanover High students: More than just baggy pants and skateboards," (May 18, 1995) the reporter stereotyped the students of Hanover High with the idea that [they] are "invading Dartmouth territory." The title of the article was supposed to define how Hanover High is "More than baggy jeans and skateboards," but the idea was not clearly illustrated when reading the first paragraph.

Report on Asgard's becoming an undergraduate society is still in the works

|

To the Editor: On behalf of the alcohol task force, I would like to clarify the situation surrounding the discussion about Asgard's becoming an undergraduate society ("Asgard may become an undergraduate society," May 18, 1995). At this point, the committee has not yet voted on any of the many proposed recommendations, and thus it is premature to say that the task force has "recommended" any specific action.

ENGS professor should receive tenure

|

To the Editor: We would like to take a few minutes and express our shock and distress with the Engineering department's decision not to recommend tenure for Professor Albert Henning. For us students, it came as a great surprise that Professor Henning was not recommended.
