‘Emergency situation’ around Baker Library resolved by professional responders

A notification from Dartmouth’s emergency alert system said it was “safe to leave your refuge area and resume normal activities.”

Update Appended (June 12, 3:07 p.m.): The emergency situation has been resolved, according to a DartAlert notification.

The “emergency situation” on campus has been resolved by “professional responders,” according to an email and text notification from DartAlert — the College’s emergency mass notification alert system. 

“It is now safe to leave your refuge area and resume normal activities,” the alert said.

A “reported threat to life and safety” was being investigated around Baker Library, according to a DartAlert sent at 2:26 p.m. The alert said to “avoid the area until further notice” and check the College’s website for details. People on campus were required to evacuate from the lawn in front of Baker Library.
