Big Green defense looks to have its way with Cornell

It's almost a week since the Big Green football team turned the Ivy League on its ear with a 30-16 upset win over Harvard at the Harvard Stadium Centennial Celebration, and it's a good bet that in Cambridge, Crimson fingers are still scratching Crimson heads trying to figure out exactly what happened to their previously undefeated Crimson team. The answer, however, is simple enough: Dartmouth's defense happened. Of course, it certainly doesn't hurt that Charlie Rittgers completed 17 passes for 344 yards and earned the Boston Globe Gold Helmet award for his effort against the Crimson.

Volleyball gets second Ivy win

Despite an often frustrating weekend for Big Green volleyball, the team was able to avert disaster by pulling out a Friday night five-set battle against the winless Columbia Lions (0-16, 0-8 Ivy) before suffering a straight-set shellacking to Cornell (18-3, 8-3) on Saturday. Dartmouth (8-13, 2-8 Ivy) entered the weekend eager for an opportunity to enjoy a victory before a home crowd -- something they have been unable to accomplish this season.

Figure skaters defeat national champions

This weekend, Dartmouth figure skaters soared past last season's national champion Cornell and the three time Eastern Conference Champion University of Delaware, to win this season's first regional qualifying meet at Princeton. The team started off strong in the ice dance events on Friday evening.

Soccer men hang tough through injuries, losing streak

They started a tremendous 4-0-2, and after Tuesday's loss against Northeastern at home, they are looking at a 4-7-2 record; a seven-game losing streak. Many have commented on the exact reason why the Big Green men's soccer team has not performed up to the level of the stellar play it exhibited earlier this season which promised of yet another Ivy League title.

Field Hockey: Orange Crush: Green tops Syracuse for second win

Audrey Knutson '07 made the gamewinning goal with 13:35 remaining, giving the Dartmouth field hockey team (2-10, 0-3 Ivy) a 3-2 victory over the Syracuse Orangewomen on Sunday afternoon at Scully-Fahey Field. The Big Green women came into the game riding the momentum of their first win of the season, last weekend's 5-1 victory over Vermont. "We were all just really excited for this game," said Knutson.
