Dartmouth women's basketball paints the Ivy League green

|

Dartmouth women's basketball looked for a clean sweep this weekend. And they got it. In the last week, it has become apparent that the Big Green would be the team to beat this season and maybe next season, as well. "We knew it would be tough to win on the road, especially with the long bus trips, but we knew that we could get both games," Jeannie Cullen '06 said. While many teams disregarded Dartmouth's first-place ranking in the media preseason poll, the Big Green's wins over Cornell and Columbia this weekend attracted serious attention from fellow league rivals. Although the Big Red and the Lions aren't the real threats to Dartmouth's run for the League title, the Big Green's immaculate 9-0 record in Ivy play alarms runner-up teams, Harvard and Brown. This weekend's trip to New York was perhaps the most demanding test on Dartmouth.

Big Green track breaks hearts at Valentine's Invite

|

As the men and women of Big Green track and field rolled into the Boston University Valentine's Invitational on Friday, uncertainty hovered ominously over their heads. Though both Dartmouth squads submitted impressive performances against rivals Columbia, Yale, Vermont and New Hampshire, the level of competition in these early match-ups paled in comparison to what they were sure to face over the weekend.

Dartmouth club hockey obliterates Lyndon State, 7-2

|

Coming into the 2004-2005 season, the prospects looked bleak for Dartmouth club hockey. Suffering from the graduations of inspirational captain Jon Webster '04 and team bruiser Anthony Balsamo '04, and the deactivation of the Dartmouth club hockey BlitzMail account, very few could have accurately predicted a positive outcome in this year's opening game. Two weeks ago, the Clubbers defied all odds and emerged victorious against Lyndon State, a superior team with matching uniforms.

Heat wave forces skiers across border

While Hanover may presently find itself in the midst of this season's first true blizzard, the late burst of precipitation comes too late to save cross-country skiing. Though alpine events will remain at the Dartmouth Skiway in Lyme Center, N.H., a lack of snow combined with relatively warm temperatures has driven the cross-country portion of the Carnival to the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe,Vt. The action at Stowe -- which doubles as UVM's home course -- kicks off on Friday with the men's 10-kilometer classical race at 10 a.m., followed by the women's five-kilometer classical an hour and a half later.
