Heritage, Bonacci lift men's lacrosse in rout over Brown

|

Bolstered by four-goal efforts from two of its offensive leaders, the Dartmouth men's lacrosse team out-muscled Brown and cruised to a 14-6 victory Saturday in Providence, R.I. Brad Heritage '06 and Nick Bonacci '07 had their way with the Bears' defense, combining for eight goals on 16 shots. The conference win balances the Big Green's record, improving its overall mark to 6-6 and its Ivy League record to 2-2. Dartmouth never trailed in the contest after gaining control of the game with a series of early runs.

Holy Cross bests baseball after ninth-inning crusade

Asafu Suzuki / The Dartmouth Staff Wednesday afternoon at Red Rolfe field was a tale of two very different teams going in two drastically different directions. In one dugout was the Dartmouth baseball team, winner of its last four games, tied for first place in the Ivy League, and poised to make another run at the title.

Brad Heritage '06 netted three goals and assisted on another to help the Big Green edge Yale 12-10 Wednesday.

Men's laxers score first Ivy victory

|

EMI ITO / The Dartmouth Staff After suffering through its share of heartbreaks this season, the once-highly-touted men's lacrosse team earned an important morale boost on Wednesday afternoon: The Big Green defeated Yale for its first Ivy League win. Co-captain Brad Heritage '06 sees the win as a potential turn-around. "I think this win will do a lot for us in terms of helping attitude at practice and having a little bit more confidence in our game and the fact that we can come out and get a win against teams we know we can beat. "It's a good feeling to know that this year's seniors will graduate never having lost to Yale," Heritage said. The Big Green (5-6, 1-2 Ivy) pieced together the 12-10 victory with a strong, albeit uncharacteristic, fourth-quarter effort. After taking a 7-5 lead into the locker rooms at halftime, Dartmouth had trouble restarting in the second half.

Women surge, men stumble in weekend golf tourneys

|

In an uneven weekend for Dartmouth golf, the women's golf team was red-hot at the Dartmouth Triangular match while the men's team went cold at the New England Division I Championship, seven days after finishing second in the Yale Spring Tournament. The women came in second-place, just one stroke behind Harvard.

It is not uncommon to see women on the Dartmouth rugby team sporting black eyes while walking around campus. In Sunday's match against Yale, the rugby team dominated the Bulldogs 34-12 at Brophy Field. After the match, Katie Moerlein '08 was asked about the black eye she acquired. Moerlein said, nonchalantly, "Oh, I didn't even realize I had one; it's probably old anyway." The women in green had played Yale only a week earlier at the Ivy tournament but lost in the final minute of the game. "It was really nice to come back and show that we dominate," Kirsten Ahrendt '07 said. Meg Rast '06 scored off a great breakthrough run by Mallory McQueen '09, while Rachel Forman '09 and Alyssa Anderson '07 each recorded one try. Dartmouth never fell behind against Yale and kept its composure and confidence throughout the match. Women's rugby resumes action next weekend and will travel either to Rhode Island for the Beast of the East tournament or stay home to play the University of Massachusetts. In other news, Dartmouth women's club lacrosse team traveled to the University of Connecticut for a Sunday game. The women in green end up losing 10-8 but gave the Huskies a scare. The Lady Laxers were winning at the half but missed a few chances to score.
