Women's volleyball sweeps through Ivy League opponents

Coming off a 3-1 performance last weekend in the Dartmouth Invitational, women's volleyball posted two decisive wins against Ivy rivals, upsetting Princeton in three games (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) before sweeping the University of Pennsylvania (30-25, 30-24, 30-27). The wins put Dartmouth in solid position for the rest of the season as the Big Green improved to a record of 8-6 overall, 2-2 Ivy. "These two wins have given us so much confidence and ambition for the rest of the season," middle blocker Nadine Parris '06 said.

Field hockey defeated by Yale, 3-1

The Dartmouth field hockey team suffered a major setback in its Ivy League campaign this weekend, falling to Yale University 3-1 on a breezy Saturday afternoon at Scully-Fahey field.




Dartmouth's kickoff coverage unit will be tested this weekend against a Yale team that averages more than 23 yards per return to lead the Ivy League.

Football set for home Ivy opener against brawling Bulldogs

Emma Haberman / The Dartmouth Senior Staff With the Dartmouth football team set for a Saturday afternoon meeting with Yale (2-1, 1-0 Ivy) on its home turf, the Big Green will be looking for its first victory against a team that is going through some rough times off the field. Yale University's star running back Mike McLeod, last weekend's Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week, along with quarterback Matthew Polhemus, were provoked into a brawl last Sunday morning in New Haven, Conn., with several members of the Bulldogs' hockey team. McLeod and Polhemus were arrested, with McLeod being charged with breach of the peace in the second degree and criminal mischief in the third degree.

Jennie Post / The Dartmouth Staff Dartmouth sailors battled strange winds and stormy weather in one women's and three coed regattas over the weekend. After last weekend's singlehanded and four-person sloop qualifying events, the Big Green returned to competition in two-person boats this weekend.

Women's soccer defeats Princeton, still undefeated in league

Kawakahi Amina / The Dartmouth Staff An Emily Tracy '07 goal in the 39th minute of play was enough to lift Dartmouth women's soccer to the top of the Ivy League as the Big Green (6-3-1, 2-0 Ivy) rolled over Princeton (4-4-1, 0-2 Ivy) 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at Lourie-Love Field. "Beating Princeton was a huge win for us because it gets us one step closer to our goal of the Ivy championship," Tracy said.


Dartmouth football could not kick or throw its way to victory on Saturday at Penn, losing by seven to the Quakers.

So it came as no surprise that when Jason Bash '06 trotted out onto the fabled Franklin Field against the University of Pennsylvania Quakers (2-1, 1-0 Ivy) on Saturday, some of the Penn fans gave him a standing ovation.
