|

Dartmouth starter Kyle Hendricks '12 pitched a scoreless seven and one-third innings in a 10-0 shutout Sunday against Cornell to lead Dartmouth to its first Ivy League baseball championship since 1987. Dartmouth (25-15, 16-4 Ivy) took the third and deciding game from the Big Red (17-23, 10-10 Ivy) after Saturday's shattering 14-12 afternoon loss and 8-6 come-from-behind win in Hanover. "It's incredible," Johnathon Santopadre '09 said after Sunday's win.

ONE-ON-ONE: O'Leary and Kolvoson

I sat down with two Dartmouth rugby players, Jeff Kolovson '09 and team captain Conlan O'Leary '09, to talk about rugby, roommates and rivalries with other varsity sports. What were some of the defining moments this year in terms of setting the tone for total domination in the Ivy League? CO: That first Saturday when we beat Cornell 112-0 and then Princeton 101-0 for a total of 213-0 on the day, that was just really unprecedented.

The Dartmouth football team officially ended spring practices with the Green-White scrimmage on Saturday morning, a two-hour session intended to show coaches and fans the squad's progress over the past three weeks. The format, however, did not completely adhere to a standard football game, as the coaches attempted to minimize injury risks.

CURIOUS JORGE: Playoff mediocrity

The NBA Playoffs theme is "Where Amazing Happens," and naturally the theme song is Kanye West's "Amazing." However, the first round of the playoffs has been more baffling than anything.

Eagles fly by title-bound Big Green

Jessica Griffen / The Dartmouth Senior Staff Under the sweltering sun, the Big Green softball team fell 10-2 to a hard-hitting Boston College team on Tuesday in Chestnut Hill, Mass. Dartmouth (22-21, 13-7 Ivy) had seven hits, compared to the twelve recorded by BC (18-28, 3-12 ACC). With these numbers, the game could have been closer, co-captain Ashley Gleason '09 said. KARR'S CHRONICLES: Toe to Teeth

|

In case you haven't noticed yet, the weather has been gorgeous in Hanover lately. Sure, we got a little rain the other day, but that is behind us, and spring is in full bloom -- even feeling like summer at times. My colleagues, Jordan Rose '09 and Michael Knapp '09, stumbled through a vain attempt at giving a few trite suggestions as to what to do when when the weather is warm in the "Toe to Toe" column on Sunday, but I think I can do better.

Women's crew edged out by Princeton, men swept

In this weekend's tightly contested Class of 1984 Plaque regatta in Philadelphia, Penn., Dartmouth's women's crew team bested University of Pennsylvania in five out of seven races, but could not overcome the competitors from Princeton to claim the victory. Both the heavyweight and the lightweight crews, meanwhile, were swept in weekend competition against their conference foes. Navigating through strong headwinds in the first varsity race, the Dartmouth women settled in between Princeton and Penn for a second-place finish.
