YOU DON'T KNOW BEANS: MLB Draft Reform

There is something wrong with our National pastime. Something very, very wrong. I speak not of steroids, but of the MLB draft, and the signing of international players. A lot of people have probably heard about Stephen Strasburg, the number-one pick in the MLB draft this past June, and the will-he or won't-he see-saw that has accompanied his signing with the Washington Nationals.

Fischer '12 to try for Canadian team

Courtesy of DartmouthSports.com Dartmouth women's hockey forward Reagan Fischer '12 will join 41 other skaters at the Canadian National Women's Under-22 team selection camp, Hockey Canada announced on Thursday, July 16. Fischer will travel to Calgary on August 7, to compete for one of 22 spots on the team, which competes in Ravensburg, Germany this January in the 2010 MLP Cup, an annual tournament that Canada has won six times in the past seven years.

YOU DON'T KNOW BEANS: Pitcher Perfect

On Thursday, July 23, White Sox pitcher Mark Buehrle achieved perfection. During the Sox's game against the Tampa Bay Rays that day, he did something that only 17 other pitchers have done in the 116-year history of modern professional baseball, he threw a perfect game.
