Football prepares for upcoming season with Spring practices

Rising temperatures and students coming out of hibernation signal another Spring in Hanover. For the Big Green football team, that means the start of Spring training. As the team looks toward the Fall, Dartmouth's players and coaches are working hard preparing for the upcoming season. This Saturday the team will host its annual Spring game an intra-squad scrimmage in which coaches and fans can catch a glimpse of what the team will look like come Fall. During every offseason, the football team logs considerable hours preparing for its next year of play.

For the men's lightweight team, this weekend was one of the most exciting meets to date, according to captain Josh Patch '09. "There was an air that we were going to have a good row because we were rowing well all week," he said.

The Dartmouth softball team shrugged off a 12-4 mercy rule loss to the University of Connecticut last Wednesday, earning a decisive four game series sweep against Yale University at home over the weekend and splitting a doubleheader against the State University of New York at Albany on Wednesday afternoon. The Big Green (12-21, 9-3 Ivy) is currently tied with Harvard University for first place in the North Division of the Ivy League. Dartmouth is now 11-4 in the last 15 games after starting the season 1-17. "Our offense has been solid since entering Ivy League play," Leigha Clarkson '10 said.

Track and field has impressive showing at Princeton Invitational

Despite facing rainy weather conditions, the Dartmouth men's and women's track and field teams had strong showings at the Princeton University Larry Ellis Invitational last weekend. Several athletes from both squads broke personal bests and placed in the top 10 of their respective events. Brett Gilson '13 led the men's team with strong showings in three events.
