Sophomore advocates for concealed gun carry

Last Wednesday, Taylor Woolrich ’16 wrote a column for Fox News in which she discussed her experience being stalked, criticizing the College’s policy prohibiting firearms. The College does not allow the possession, manufacture, transfer, sale or use of weapons by any individual on College property or at College-sanctioned events.

Student employees welcome Kronos

Despite some technical glitches such as slow loading times and problems with phone usage within the Kronos program, students interviewed said that they support the College’s transition to online tracking instead of paper time sheets.

Gender-inclusive bathrooms to come to Topliff this fall

|

As soon as this fall, residential buildings at the College may gain gender-inclusive restrooms, starting in Topliff Hall, vice president of campus planning and facilities Lisa Hogarty said. The bathrooms labeled gender-inclusive are open to any person, regardless of gender identity, she said.

Strategic plans shift under Hanlon

The College’s strategic planning process, which began under former College President Jim Yong Kim, never reached its initial goal of creating policy for the College’s future, faculty strategic planning advisory committee chair and sociology professor Denise Anthony said. The recommendations resulting from the process, she said, instead helped inform College President Phil Hanlon when he arrived.

GLC, Panhell, IFC to add events as policy continues

The Greek Leadership Council, the Panhellenic Council and the Interfraternity Council plan to host more non-alcoholic social events at Greek houses when the GLC first-year student policy is in effect than last year’s councils did, GLC summer chair Elizabeth Wilkins ’16 said.

Beginning with the inauguration of College President Phil Hanlon, 2013-14 was an eventful year for the College with a series of transformations. As Hanlon settled into his new role and began to institute his vision, the year was defined by new initiatives, administrative departures and student protests.

Administrators create policy, shape Dartmouth experience

Senior administrators are in charge of the decisions and initiatives that are responsible for creating students’ Dartmouth experiences. Due to recent high levels of administrative turnover — six senior positions in the administration have seen new leadership in the past year — keeping track of the various administrators can be difficult. These five administrators will directly impact on your time at the College.

One year after, Clery complaint investigation launched

As federal investigation into the College’s compliance with the Clery Act is set to start on Aug. 18, College officials who work on the Clery Act believe that the College is in compliance, associate general council Kevin O’Leary said.\nMore than 30 students and alumni have signed onto the complaint, filed in May 2013.

Students discuss sexual assault

A program intending to spark conversations surrounding sexual assault on campus brought approximately 130 students to Bones Gate fraternity yesterday afternoon. During the nearly four-and-a-half hour event, which stretched into the early evening, participants listened to an eight-student panel, spoke with faculty and guest speakers and crossed campus to the steps of Dartmouth Hall in a candlelight vigil.

Kappa Delta, Triangle House to open for fall

Soon the sight of fences, the sound of power tools and the bustle of construction workers around Kappa Delta sorority and the Triangle House, a living learning community focusing on LGBTQ issues, will be distant memories. Construction on both buildings is set to finish this month in time to allow for fall student occupancy, residential operations director Woody Eckels said.
