Point: Bikinis are Legit on the Green

|

Sun's out, guns out, as the saying goes, and with spring, shirtlessness abounds. With the temperatures rising and the sky clear blue, what's so bad about a little bikini action on the Green? Whether your last final was streaked, a blur of pale flesh ran by while you were grabbing coffee in Novak or the pong team beside you got Golden Tree'd, you've likely seen nudity at Dartmouth on more than one occasion.

Thesis season always brings out the best and brightest among us, encouraging them to step out of the dark shadows of the library to discuss with the rest of us what exactly it is that they've been working so hard on for the past year or so.

PRIDE discussion aims to unite black and gay communities

Jennifer Argote / The Dartmouth Senior Staff Seeking dialogue within the gay and black communities, music professor Steve Swayne spoke on his experience as a gay, black and religious man in a PRIDE week event Thursday night in Cutter-Shabazz Hall. "We each have expectations from our communities and our families, and we each have to navigate the multiple roles we play," Swayne said in an interview after his address.

Mascoma, GM partner in tech effort

Mascoma, a leading company in biofuels technology founded by two Thayer School of Engineering professors, will partner with General Motors to develop ethanol technology from wood chips, waste paper sludge and grass to combat an increasing demand for energy, both companies announced in a joint statement on Thursday. "It is important financially and from the perspective of a strategic partnership as to the direction the company can go," Mascoma co-founder and Thayer School professor Charles Wyman said.
