Lifetime-bound 'Runway' wraps up unimpressive fifth season

Courtesy of Demonoid.com It's curtains for "Project Runway!" Last Wednesday's landmark episode marked the end of season five and, quite possibly, Project Runway as we know it. Project Runway is embroiled in a nasty legal battle over a lucrative, five-year deal that its producers signed in April with Lifetime, taking the show away from Bravo, which has carried it since it began in 2004. Filming for season six is well underway, but the show may well find itself homeless once production wraps.

Dori Molitor, CEO and co-founder of the consulting firm WomanWise, argued that consumer marketing needs to be re-evaluated to consider the emotions of women, in a presentation at a Women in Business meeting in the Collis Center, Monday evening. WomanWise is a hybrid consultancy-agency that specializes in marketing brands to women, according to Molitor.

Corps looks to extend CRREL lease

Almost 50 years ago, Dartmouth leased 18 acres of land for $1 to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to establish a Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory in Hanover.


In an interview with The Dartmouth, Crady said he is currently looking for input from the Dartmouth community before finalizing the proposal, which will not go into effect until the Spring term, at the earliest.

Proposal restructures SEMP alcohol policy

Sophie Novack / The Dartmouth Staff The Office of the Dean of the College has released its new Alcohol Management Program, a proposal to overhaul Dartmouth's alcohol policies that will eliminate distinctions between types of social events on campus and require organizations to submit a weekly schedule of all events at which alcohol will be served.

Homecoming weekend attracts alumni

Sarah Irving / The Dartmouth Bonfire organizers and members of the Alumni Relations office said they were pleased with the execution of this year's Homecoming weekend, citing the large turnout and enthusiasm of students and alumni. More freshmen participated in the construction of the bonfire than ever before, according to Brian Ea '12, build chair for the bonfire committee. "We had around 180 people come to help build, almost twice as many as last year, which was the previous high.

Volleyball beats Columbia, falls in marathon to Cornell

In a five-set thriller that lasted almost two hours, the Dartmouth women's volleyball team fell to Ivy rival Cornell at home on Saturday after posting a convincing victory over Columbia on Friday night. With the win against the Lions (5-10, 0-6 Ivy), the Big Green (6-10, 2-4 Ivy) looked to secure its first doubleheader sweep of the season.

Men's tennis makes early exit from ITA Regionals

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regionals at Yale ended earlier than Dartmouth had hoped, as all Big Green players were eliminated after the third day of play Saturday afternoon in New Haven, Conn. It was a sudden dose of reality for the Big Green, who had dominated the competition in their last tournament. "I thought we had prepared pretty well, and we had big expectations," captain Ari Gayer '09 said.

Second-half surge not enough for men's soccer against Penn

On a frigid Homecoming night, the Dartmouth men's soccer team lost its first home game of the season to Ivy League foe the University of Pennsylvania, 1-0, Saturday in Hanover. The loss dropped Dartmouth to 6-5-1 (1-1-1 Ivy), while the Quakers improved to 8-2-3 (2-1-0 Ivy). The Big Green is now tied for fourth place in the Ivy standing with Princeton, while Penn sits in a tie for second place with Brown.


Midfielder Myra Sack '10 helped seal Dartmouth's victory over Penn on Saturday by scoring in the 84th minute to put the Big Green ahead, 2-0.

Women's soccer scores big Ivy upset over Quakers, 2-0

Zach Ingbretsen / The Dartmouth Staff The Big Green tallied its first Ivy League win in an upset victory over the University of Pennsylvania, who was previously unbeaten in the Ivies, on Saturday afternoon at Burnham Field in Hanover. Dartmouth (7-5-1, 1-3 Ivy) triumphed in a 2-0 shutout of the Quakers (7-4-2, 2-1-1 Ivy), who are currently tied for third place in the Ivy League.
