The Class of 1994 recently elected 21 seniors to the Senior Executive Committee.
The committee acts primarily as a liaison between the class and the Alumni Council after graduation.
Jen Suhie was elected class president and current Class President Dan Garodnick will serve as alumni councilor. He will represent the class in the Alumni Council.
Members of the class were sent letters requesting nominations for the committee, Suhie said.
Seniors then chose 10 names from among the nominees and the top 20 selections serve on the committee.
Committee members held their own elections last week to determine the officer positions.
In addition to Suhie and Garodnick, the class elected Ken Bower as vice-president; Steve Calhoun as treasurer; Nihad Farooq as secretary; Amy Palmer and Andrew Plumridge as newsletter editors; Fred Malloy and Zola Mashariki as mini-reunion chairs; and Betsy Hawkanson and Kristin Lester as class head agents.
"Something that I have noticed is that we have a special bond," Suhie said. "I don't think I've ever seen such a cohesive group. I see a huge Dartmouth spirit in our class and my goal is to maintain that unity in the next five years."
All positions are for five years with the exception of the alumni council representative, which is for three years. The Executive Committee, however, is permanent. Suhie said she does not know what happens when an officer's term expires.
Garodnick will return to Dartmouth twice a year to meet with the Alumni Council, a body which voices alumni concerns to College administrators and the Board of Trustees.
"I will try to orient myself to the structure and decision making process of the council and work from there," Garodnick said.
Palmer and Plumridge are responsible for publishing the Class of 1994's Alumni Newsletter, which will include updates about class members and information about upcoming class events and reunions.
Malloy and Mashariki will organize the fifth-year Class reunion as well as Homecoming reunion events and other functions.
Hawkanson and Lester will work closely with alumni fund campaigns to raise money for the College from the Class of 1994.
The Committee also assists in planning this year's Class Day activities, which take place the day before graduation, Garodnick said. The Committee is involved in selecting both class marshals and the faculty speaker who will address the class on the Bema that afternoon.
Also elected to the committee were Bob Bordone, Trevor Burgess, Amy Candido, Ben Dean, Marcelino Garcia, Jamie Knies, Rachel Perri, Traci Waack, Erik Wilkins and David Zug.
