Skiers finish third at Middlebury

The Dartmouth Ski Team finished its regular season this weekend at the Middlebury College Carnival, taking third place overall, behind the University of Vermont and Middlebury. The men's team finished in first place and the women's in fourth. On the cross country trails, the Dartmouth men tied for second with Middlebury behind UVM in Friday's 10K Freestyle race. Aki Partenen of UVM won the race, but Colter Leys '96, Captain Cory Smith '96 and Paul Stone '98 pulled together as a team and managed strong fourth, fifth and 20th place finishes. In Saturday's 20K Classical event, the Dartmouth men improved their speed and came out on top.

Women's hockey beats Harvard 8-3 for share of Ivy League title

Defenseman Michelyne Pinard '98 described last night's women's hockey game in one word. "Whoah!" Not only did the Big Green romp the Harvard Crimson, dealing them an 8-3 loss, but the team secured its place as Ivy League Champions, an honor it shares with Princeton. Dartmouth will take on Princeton in the first round of the ECAC tournament this Saturday.

Fencers take third at New England Championships

Both the Dartmouth men's and women's fencing teams continued their dramatic three-year improvement at the New England Championships last weekend, boding well for the teams' futures. Eleventh, seventh and now third, the Dartmouth men's fencing team has climbed the New England Championship rankings each of the last three years.

Men's basketball drops weekend pair

This season's roller coaster ride took another dip this weekend as the Big Green men's basketball team dropped games on the road to powers Pennsylvania and Princeton. The losses virtually eliminated the Big Green from Ivy title contention, although few doubted that Penn would win it this year, anyhow. Pennsylvania 73, Dartmouth 62 On Friday, at the intimidating Palestra in Philadelphia, Penn., the men kept the game close before falling, 73-62.

Hoops looks to extend win streak at #1 Penn

The Big Green will assay for their shot at the Ivy League title this weekend when they take on league-leading Penn and stingy Princeton in a pair of tough road games. To have a shot at the elusive Ivy crown, Dartmouth needs to win both games.

Lonergan '97 leads basketball team

He streaked down the right side, caught a pass from point guard Kenny Mitchell '97 and exploded with a two-handed, in-your-face, reverse dunk that brought looks of awe from the crowd and raised his teammates off the bench.
