It is not uncommon to see women on the Dartmouth rugby team sporting black eyes while walking around campus. In Sunday's match against Yale, the rugby team dominated the Bulldogs 34-12 at Brophy Field. After the match, Katie Moerlein '08 was asked about the black eye she acquired. Moerlein said, nonchalantly, "Oh, I didn't even realize I had one; it's probably old anyway." The women in green had played Yale only a week earlier at the Ivy tournament but lost in the final minute of the game. "It was really nice to come back and show that we dominate," Kirsten Ahrendt '07 said. Meg Rast '06 scored off a great breakthrough run by Mallory McQueen '09, while Rachel Forman '09 and Alyssa Anderson '07 each recorded one try. Dartmouth never fell behind against Yale and kept its composure and confidence throughout the match. Women's rugby resumes action next weekend and will travel either to Rhode Island for the Beast of the East tournament or stay home to play the University of Massachusetts. In other news, Dartmouth women's club lacrosse team traveled to the University of Connecticut for a Sunday game. The women in green end up losing 10-8 but gave the Huskies a scare. The Lady Laxers were winning at the half but missed a few chances to score.

On the same day he competed in the first-ever NCAA Frozen Four Skills Challenge, Ouellette was elected to the Division I All-America second team. The honor is Ouellete's first, and Dartmouth's third in three years, after current St.

Jennie Post / The Dartmouth Staff Dartmouth softball opened Ivy League play over the weekend by splitting doubleheaders against the Cornell Big Red and Columbia Lions. Dartmouth (9-16, 2-2 Ivy) captured a 4-3 win in its second game against Cornell (17-16, 3-1 Ivy), halting a losing streak that had stretched to five games after falling to the Big Red 3-2 in extra innings earlier in the day. The Big Green ground out another split against the Columbia Lions (18-15-1, 1-1 Ivy), losing the first game 3-1 and winning the second 5-2. Saturday and Sunday's games were not only eagerly anticipated as the commencement of Ivy competition, but were also a watershed in the team's season.

When asked the scores of the Dartmouth women's water polo team's four matches, freshman Jenna Newgard '09 said, "We creamed some teams, I can't remember all the scores." Newgard's statement expresses a good idea of how dominant Dartmouth was in its first-ever home tournament. The team won all four of its matches against Williams, Wesleyan and both the A and B teams from Yale Saturday and Sunday at the Karl Michael Pool.
