Women's lacrosse defeats UNH and UVM in doubleheader

The Big Green's victory against UNH revolved around the team's successful defense.

Women's volleyball team falls twice after slow starts

Nicholas Root / The Dartmouth Staff Nicholas Root / The Dartmouth Staff The Dartmouth women's volleyball team had another tough weekend at home, falling to Brown University, 3-1, on Friday and then again to Yale University, 3-2, on Saturday. On Friday, the Dartmouth women (12-6, 3-4 Ivy) had some trouble gelling as a team, getting off to a slow start. "We weren't playing well together, and there was no chemistry," Kendall Houston '12 said. The Brown Bears, likely motivated by the possibility of their first Ivy League victory, took the first game fairly easily with a score of 25-18.

"I think we did our best, and that's all we can ask for," Lisa Masini '13 said.

The Dartmouth football team (4-2, 1-2 Ivy) won its first Ivy League game of the season on Saturday, defeating Columbia University (3-3, 1-2 Ivy) in its Homecoming game, 24-21, despite fumbling three times in the fourth quarter.

Women's tennis to host Regionals

Five players qualified for the main draw singles event of the tournament Ryan Reichel '11, Molly Scott '11, Georgiana Smyser '11, Rachel Decker-Sadowski '14 and Melissa Matsuoka '14.

Simmelkjaer '93 named ESPN VP for Intl. Development

ESPN recently named Rob Simmelkjaer '93 as its new Vice President of International Development, after he served the network for two years as the vice president of corporate projects. In his previous position, Simmelkjaer worked in international affairs, focusing on putting together a bid for ESPN to broadcast the next Olympic Games. "The Olympics now is just a small part of what I'm going to be doing," he said in an interview with The Dartmouth. Although his previous work included some on-air duties for the network, Simmelkjaer said he is primarily interested in the management of ESPN, but plans to continue doing on-air commentary. "Ultimately I want to be involved in running the business here," he said. Simmelkjaer said his role in ESPN International will be expanded because of the scope of his new position.
