The Dartmouth

Briefly Noted

Ethan Shaw '12, Phil Royer '13 and Tom Robbins '11 were named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Region runners list last Monday. They qualified for the award by finishing in the top 25 of the NCAA Regional Championships meet that took place on Nov. 13. At the meet, Shaw led all members of the Dartmouth squad by finishing in 18th place. Royer and Robbins followed close behind, finishing in 19th and 24th, respectively. Both Shaw and Robbins earned the award last year as well. The team failed to qualify for the National meet, however, as it finished fourth overall at Regionals, and only the top two teams receive an automatic bid.

Shawn Abuhoff '12 was once again named Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week following his impressive performance in the Big Green's loss to the Brown University Bears on Nov. 13. It is the second time in the past three weeks that he has received the honor, and it is the third time in nine weeks that a Dartmouth player has been selected. Against the Bears, Abuhoff racked up 104 total punt return yards 10 shy of the school record including a 76-yard touchdown return in the third quarter. He acted as a disruptive force all day, as the Brown coaching staff was forced to kick away from him at every opportunity. His three punt return touchdowns on the season tie the Dartmouth school record set back in 1970.
