Football handles Yale in easy victory

Down 14-13 at halftime, the Dartmouth football team methodically pulled away from Yale University to win 34-14 on Saturday in New Haven, Conn., as the Big Green's stringent defense and strong play from unheralded backups gave Dartmouth its first 3-1 start since 1997 and its first win over Yale since 2002. After the Bulldogs (1-3, 0-2 Ivy) seized a 14-10 lead on a fake field goal with 4:12 to play in the first half, the Big Green (1-1 Ivy) defense buckled down and stopped four of Yale's next six fourth-down attempts. "We knew they were an aggressive team, and we knew they were going to have some tricks in the bag," co-captain and linebacker Bronson Green '14 said.

The Big Green (5-5, 1-1 Ivy) battled to victory over the fiery Bulldogs (3-5-3, 0-1-1 Ivy), getting its quest for a second consecutive conference title back on track following a 2-1 extra-time defeat in last week's Ivy opener at Princeton University.

Coming off of two consecutive Massachusetts state football championships and two state records, including most career touchdown passes, quarterback Jonathan DiBiaso is set to join the Big Green next fall after he spends a postgraduate year at Phillips Exeter Academy. Dartmouth first recruited DiBiaso in 2010, during his junior year at Everett High School in Everett, Mass., where his father, John DiBiaso, has coached football since 1992.

Much to His Chagrin

Much to my chagrin, the prospects of an NHL season are diminishing by the day. As has become all too ordinary over the last decade, phenomenally wealthy owners are attempting to roll back the players' percentage share of revenue by double digits.

The Bulldogs (1-2, 0-1 Ivy) have controlled the rivalry with the Big Green (2-1, 0-1 Ivy) in recent years, winning the last nine matchups in the series.

Ryan McManus '15 scored in the fourth quarter to cut Penn's lead to seven, but it was too little, too late for Dartmouth on Saturday.
