Equestrian team jumps rivals for Zone win, shot at national title

A weekend win at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Zone I New England Equitation Championships brought the Big Green equestrian team one step closer to the 2014 IHSA National Championships, the first time the team has qualified in its history as a varsity sport. Last weekend’s competition, held at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Mass., matched Dartmouth against teams from Tufts University, Mount Holyoke and the University of Rhode Island. The team earned a spot in the 2014 IHSA National Championships, which will be held May 1-4 in Harrisburg, Pa.

Four equestrian team members qualify for New England Champs.

The equestrian team competed in regional championships on Saturday, qualifying four members for the ISHA Zone I New England Championships at Mount Holyoke College this weekend. At a competition at the University of New Hampshire on March 8, the team had already secured the regional title, entering it as a team in the upcoming New England competition.

Savage '15 favorited in Ivy League for proficiency on the field

Forward Ali Savage '15 has played a vital role on the field hockey team since freshman year. After spending her sophomore summer on campus training, this season is shaping up to be even more impressive for the Australian native. Savage was named Ivy League field hockey co-player of the week on Tuesday, after scoring her third hat trick this season and putting seven goals on the scoreboard against University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University.

Despite limited practice, sailing sees strong results in weekend regattas

The Dartmouth sailing team began its season this weekend with regattas across New England. Although poor weather conditions in previous weeks made preseason training difficult, the Big Green sailors took advantage of early competition as a chance to pinpoint areas for improvement. Both the women's and coed teams ranked in the top three in the 2013 college preseason rankings released by Sailing World.
