Master of health care delivery science connects alumni with web seminars

The College’s master of health care delivery science program currently reconnects its students, alumni and staff by offering virtual seminars on a wide variety topics. Starting this year, the program seeks to expand and offer 10 seminars per year to accommodate for a rapidly growing alumni population, MHCDS director and Tuck lecturer Katherine Milligan said.

Town hall discusses survey amid reaction over tenure decisions

Around 250 students, faculty, staff and community members attended a town hall yesterday where executive vice president of the College Rick Mills, chief financial officer Mike Wagner, vice provost for academic affairs Denise Anthony and Provost Carolyn Dever spoke about the results of the Dartmouth Community Study and fielded audience questions on diversity, inclusivity and transparency in the tenure process.

New housing communities adjust for accessibility needs

At Dartmouth, elevators, automatic doors and dorms with ground floor access are some of the more clearly visible signs of accommodations for individuals with disabilities. The new residential housing system was designed with the way they would accommodate those with physical disabilities on campus, director of education Michael Wooten said.

Astronomy department hosts viewing

Rather than snapping selfies, students pulled out their iPhones to capture an image of Mercury’s transit of the sun, reflected by projection telescopes on the Green yesterday morning. Mercury’s transit occurs once every five to 10 years, and its next one is set to take place in 2019.

This past weekend, Dartmouth hosted its 44th annual Dartmouth Powwow — a social gathering and celebration held by Native American communities.

PRIDE works with longer schedule but same-sized budget

Tonight, students will gather over hors d’oeuvres and an open bar at the Lavender Graduation, a ceremony which recognizes the achievements of graduating seniors who are part of the LGBTQIA community. The event, hosted at the Triangle House, will cap off a two-week long PRIDE 2016 and will include a book dedication from authors in the Dartmouth Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Alumni/Ae Association

All-day breakfast, locally sourced food, craft beers and live music: these will be among the varied offerings at the Hanover location of The Skinny Pancake, which holds its grand opening today. The fast casual dining establishment specializes in crêpes and can be found in the Hanover Park Building on Lebanon Street.

Yield increases to 53.1 percent for Class of 2020

|

Over 53 percent of students admitted to the College’s Class of 2020 accepted offers of admission, yielding a class of 1,156 students from 2,176 accepted students, including 525 who were accepted early decision. The number is an increase from last year’s yield for the Class of 2019 of 50.3 percent, and closer to the Class of 2018’s record yield of 54.5 percent.

Having more students in a class than space permits stands in contrast to the College’s liberal arts focus on small class sizes, highlighting the issue of over-enrolled and at-capacity courses at the College.

APAHM kicks off in May

|

This past Sunday marked the beginning of Asian American and Pacific Island Heritage month, an annual celebration of the pan-Asian community that continues through all of May. This year’s theme at Dartmouth is “Loving #MyAsianAmericanStory,” a hashtag that was originally started by an Asian American high school student.
