Mind the Gaps

This week, the College announced the formation of a second search committee to find an interim director for the vacant Director of Greek Letter Organizations and Societies position after a Spring term search failed to find and hire a suitable candidate ("Carney position remains vacant," July 13). The unfilled GLOS directorship is only one of a long line of job gaps that have emerged in administrative, student life and student services departments as a result of budget cuts and other efforts to restructure the administration.

Mastanduno named Dean of the Faculty

Michael Mastanduno, associate dean of the faculty for the social sciences and government professor at the College, has been appointed Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences following a two-month search process, College President Jim Yong Kim announced in an e-mail to the Dartmouth community Thursday afternoon. Mastanduno, who has served as an associate dean of the faculty since 2003, will begin his five-year term on August 1, according to the e-mail.

Correction Appended Andrew Lohse '12 and Sarah Koo '10 accepted plea bargains during separate hearings at the Lebanon District Court on Wednesday in connection with a May 13 incident at Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity involving suspected cocaine use.

Dartmouth grads chosen to serve as Presidential Fellows
