DHMC protests low reimbursement rate

The combined impact of New Hampshire state budget cuts enacted on July 1 and prior reductions in hospitals' Medicaid reimbursement rates over the past three years has forced Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center to reduce its workforce and consider altering certain services in order to cover approximately $100 million in losses, according to Rick Adams, direction of media relations for DHMC. "We're looking at all aspects of the operation to see what we can change," Adams said. To address the budget gap, DHMC plans to decrease its discretionary spending by reducing its workforce, as well as possibly altering the services that the hospital offers patients, Adams said.
