On the night of May 23, Hanover Police arrested Alice Lloyd ’27 for driving under the influence after responding to a report of “a crash involving a Jeep Wrangler into the front entrance of Kappa Kappa Gamma” sorority’s house at 24 East Wheelock Street, department captain Mike Schibuola wrote in an email statement to The Dartmouth yesterday. The accident left visible damage to the house’s accessibility ramp, which leads to the main entrance.
Lloyd — the sorority’s president — recounted the incident in a May 24 GroupMe message to members of Kappa, which was obtained and reviewed by The Dartmouth.
“My car did crash into the porch, as means to steer away from oncoming traffic. With the tragic factor of it being my friend’s first time driving in the U.S. and on the other side of the road,” she wrote. “Certainly, I am shaken up and still quite traumatized. But I am relieved to report both the driver and I are safe, with no one else in the crash.”
A spokesperson for the College, a spokesperson for the Department of Safety and Security and several other members of the sorority’s executive board declined to comment.
