Summer Hammond '17 dies at DHMC on Monday afternoon

The College lowered its flags to half-mast in memory of Summer Hammond '17, who died Monday.

Summer Hammond ’17, of Aurora, Colorado, died Monday afternoon at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, where she had beenreceiving treatment for cancer.

Hammond, who graduated from Grandview High School, was a member of the women’s club soccer team and Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Hammond was also involved with Relay for Life on campus.

College President Phil Hanlon announced Hammond’s death in a campus-wide email Monday evening.Counseling is available atDick’s House or throughSafety and Security during this time.

Hammond's parents are planning a memorial service, which will occur during the fall term, vice provost for student affairs Inge-Lise Ameer wrote in a campus-wide email Tuesday afternoon. Students may submit written remembrances through the vice provost's office.
